2025, the innovations and developments from the baking, confectionery and snack industry will be presented at the leading global trade fair. From 18 May to 22 May 2025, visitors to the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre in Hall 14, A13 will be able to see the tricks of the trade for themselves and attend the award ceremonies.
The iba.UIBC.CUP OF BAKERS 2025
In 2025, the best bakers from twelve international teams will face the ultimate challenge: creating edible masterpieces under time pressure. Judged by an expert jury.

German championship of master bakers
The four teams of two that come out on top in the preliminary rounds will compete against each other in the grand final at iba. You will soon be able to read about the theme of the competition here.
"BackStage young talent days" challenge
During the "BackStage young talent days" challenge, trainees compete against each other in teams of two and put their baking skills to the test.
Federal honour award of the German bakery trade

World Championship of Bread Sommeliers
The Akademie Deutsches Bäckerhandwerk Weinheim (German National Bakers Academy in Weinheim) offered for the first time in autumn 2023 an international course for ‘Certified Bread Sommeliers’. Participants from various countries such as the USA, Norway, Brazil, Ireland, Aruba in the Caribbean, and New Zealand successfully completed the course in September 2024.
Grand finale at iba 2025
To date, a total of 267 bread sommeliers from 14 different nations have been trained in Weinheim. The graduates now have the opportunity to compete in the preliminary rounds, leading up to the grand finale at the "World Championship of Bread Sommeliers" set to take place at iba in May 2025.
