Expanding possibilities for temperature-sensitive batch processes
VMI, a technology brand of Coperion, presents a new cooling option for its industry-recognized SPI spiral mixer on display at the Coperion stand at iba.
VMI, a technology brand of Coperion, introduces a new option for its SPI spiral mixer range: a double-jacketed cooled bowl system at iba. This addition offers greater flexibility for processes where precise temperature control is essential—such as in the preparation of pastry doughs like croissants—while maintaining the same level of performance and consistency that customers have come to rely on with the SPI.
This new feature is a response to the evolving needs of production environments where control and adaptability are key. While VMI already offers temperature-controlled solutions through its continuous mixing technologies, this addition brings similar process benefits to batch applications with removable bowl, broadening the range of available options.
The cooled bowl system has already been put into practice at a customer site, where it showed clear benefits in helping to control dough temperature. It stands out as a different approach —particularly in comparison to other cooled mixing technologies, such as bottom-discharge mixers—tailored to specific production setups, with a strong focus on flexibility.
Importantly, the cooled bowl system has been designed with integration in mind. Everything that can be done with the standard spiral mixer remains fully possible with this new option, ensuring continuity and flexibility. This ensures smooth implementation in modern, flexible production lines. It can be incorporated into a variety of ancillary systems and is well-suited for use in automated production environments, including those involving shuttles or AGVs.
With this development, VMI continues to refine and adapt its offering to meet customer requirements, providing practical, thoughtful enhancements that support reliable, high-quality production.
VMI, a technology brand of Coperion, is one of several chosen for their proven track records in the baking and food sector, each offering highly specialized expertise. Now unified, they provide an end-to-end solution for production needs across multiple product categories.
