Coating technology – Precision control of functionality
More control, better quality: With coating technologies, RAPS delivers precision functionality for baked goods. At iba 2025, we’ll show how microencapsulation simplifies processes and extends shelf life.
The demands on modern baked goods are increasing: manufacturers are seeking solutions that streamline processes, ensure consistent quality, and extend shelf life. RAPS addresses these needs with coating technologies that enable controlled and precisely timed functionality of key ingredients.
At the heart of this approach is the company’s proprietary Coatec process – a form of microencapsulation in which functional ingredients such as acids or carbonates are coated with a protective layer. This prevents undesired interactions in the dough and allows for targeted effects like optimal rising and extended freshness.
The coating shields ingredients from heat, humidity, and oxidation, and enables timed release during production. The benefits are clear: easier processing, improved dough stability, and consistently high product quality – whether for tortillas, toast, or other baked goods.
“Our coating solutions support the delicate interplay of ingredients during production and beyond,” explains Maximilian Heindl, Director Marketing & Sales DACH at RAPS. “This gives manufacturers full control over both the production process and the final product quality.”
